Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) is the first telecommunications company in Oman and is the primary provider of internet services in the country. Omantel acquired a 65% share in WorldCall Pakistan in April 2008[2]. The government of Oman owns a 70% share in Omantel[3].

Oman Mobile is a subsidiary of Omantel that provides mobile phone service to consumers. In addition to standard voice and SMS , packages for BlackBerry service[4], 3.5G-enabled high-speed data services[5], and push-to-talk services[6] are also available for both private and business customers. As of January 2009, the customer base of Oman Mobile consists of approximately 1.7 million subscribers[7].
On March 29, 2009 Azzman news paper reported that the CEO Oman Omantel has resigned from his position as a CEO for personal reasons.[8]
